Since 1989 Doug Marfice has represented clients in a diverse practice focusing on real estate. He is currently the firm’s managing partner.
Doug has represented property owners, brokers, developers, lenders, owners’ associations, title insurers and property managers. He has litigated all manner of access claims, easement and boundary line disputes, real estate partition actions, covenant enforcements, eminent domain/condemnation cases, and real estate contract matters. Doug has trial experience in both the state and federal courts in Idaho and Washington as well as appellate work before the Idaho Supreme Court, the Idaho Court of Appeals and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Doug has extensive experience with land use and property development projects, planning and zoning matters, condominium and subdivision work, as well as a variety of regulatory interpretation and enforcement cases. Doug has defended Fair Housing and ADA discrimination claims, defect non-disclosure claims, environmental matters, and secured lending cases, including both judicial and non-judicial foreclosures and loan work-out agreements.
Educating and serving real estate licensees (agents/Realtors®/brokers) has been a significant part of Doug’s practice for over 25 years. In addition to representing Realtors® Associations, Doug was certified by Idaho Real Estate Commission as an instructor of Real Estate Law, and has taught a 30-hour live course dozens of times all over Idaho. He has authored and presented numerous certified continuing education courses in topics including risk reduction, contract law, eminent domain, RESPA, Fair Housing, legislative updates, and related real estate subject matter. Doug has also spoken at continuing education classes for land surveyors, attorneys, title agents and other professionals on real estate topics. Doug has extensive experience representing real estate brokerages and agents in errors and omissions (E&O) defense cases, administrative and licensure revocation actions, disciplinary proceedings, brokerage management/franchise matters, fee arbitrations, professional standards hearings, and regulatory compliance cases. Doug has also served as a mediator and expert witness in real estate related cases.
